The stage definitely looked small when three-piece band Salvador from Russia came up and unleashed an explosive performance to an unsuspecting audience that night, during the GBOB World Finals in Kuala Lumpur.
The band charged into the set with some very loud, fast, and tightly synchronized playing, matched with brutal head-banging and uproars; special mention to the vocalist who was making all that loud music - only with an acoustic guitar!
Dmitry (guitar) and Andrey (bass) ‘owned’ the stage and were literally all over it. I could have sworn they almost crashed into each other at one point. Andrey was exceptional with his bass and showmanship. Behind them, pieces of wood must have been flying everywhere from where Petr was as he smashed that drum kit like mad! Drummers are every band’s ‘secret weapon’, and this guy was no exception. His drive was evident throughout the set.
All in all, I think it was that 'no-bars' energy and sound that Salvador brought to the competition well. You’d probably be surprised to know these guys also do acoustic sets!)
If Salvador’s performance in the GBOB World Finals could be summed up in one word, I think it would be - Revolution! These guys have become one of the pioneers of indie music in Russia since their first win in GBOB, and I believe they’re on to starting a new trend that can sweep across the whole music scene in the future.
To Salvador, congratulations for winning first runner-up! Fight! Fight!

Other Commentaries A-One Records from Moscow describes Salvador’s music and style as “filled with hot fire, inner energy, unbendable force and deep emotions… an explosive mixture of hard rock, alternative, rock-n-roll and Brazilian and Cuban ethnic tunes.”
Coined in their profile as “one of the brightest bands in the Russian alternative music scene”, these guys have been performing in huge Russian outdoor music festivals for years, where they would “effortlessly turned the listener’s distrust for non-mainstream music into a new appreciation for indie sound.”
