ROGVAIV is a part of the Romanian pop-rock history.
In 1980 two young students from the Ploiesti University started a new band. Cristin Tomeci and Geo Dobrescu began a rock adventure in the dark time of Romanian dictatorship.
The '80-th will be the golden years for Rogvaiv, when the band won many pop-rock challenges around the country. Live band, ROGVAIV had shows from east to west and nord to south but only inside the closed borders of that time.
ROGVAIV concerted togheter with big romanian names of that time - Vali Sterian, Mircea Vintila, Florian Pitis, Madalina Manole, Serbarile Scanteii Tineretului, Cenaclul Tineretului Prahovean, but never received the approval to record a disc or to be present at television.
Only some romanian music critics had the mood to write about ROGVAIV in newspapers, magazines or to invite the band at the radio. The song "Sunrise in the Carpathians" was the very known hit, but only after the lyrics was changed by request of the romanian cenzure. The real name of the song was "I try to find you liberty".Along the time, ROGVAIV had different members, but the golden times was in the next formule :
Cristin Tomeci - bass, leader,
Geo Dobrescu - vocal, [R.I.P.]
Rasnita Costel (Rama) guitars,
Felix Barcsy (keyboards)
Calin Visoianu (drums).
From the others members of ROGVAIV can remember: Marcel Pavel (drums) - today one of the best voice of Romania - Laurentiu Matei (guitars) - today song writer, husband of NICO, one of the best romanian singer - Titi Arsene (guitar), Puiu Stan Ion (drums), Mircea Balaceanu (vocal) and many others.
Everything was ended with the emigration of the leader of the band in Belgium.
In 2006, ocasioned by the first visit in Romania after many years,Cristin Tomeci bring together the three good friends Cistin Tomeci, Rasnita Costel and Geo Dobrescu. Together with "Fistoc" (drums) he take the decision to begin a new ROGVAIV Project in Belgium.
Made in Belgium, ROGVAIV began in 2006 like a private project for an European pop-rock group. Rogvaiv brought together west and east european top musicians. The band played in english, dutch, france and romanian languages.
Known as a "live band", ROGVAIV was in studio for the production of the first CD in 2007. You can listen some songs (not mastered) from that not finished CD.
ROGVAIV Band 2006-2008 was:
Cristin Tomeci - bass, guitars, leader
Van Rama (Rasnita Costel) - guitars
Geo Dobrescu - vocal
Mike Imbarus - vocal
Eric D'Hoe - keyboards
Danny D'Hoe - Drums
The new musical line, a combination between the music of the youngest member, DJ and composer E.T. (Emanuel Tomeci - 17 years old) and the experience of the others members, show a very original "rock-trance" direction. The song "Happy" was the first result in this direction.
The name ROGVAIV means the colors spectrum and that the members of the band came from different places and cultures but they make pure and original music like this colors wich give the white light through crystal pyramid.
On 04.07.2008 our vocal and friend GEO DOBRESCU died in Romania.
We decided to stop the band activities for all.
