In 2008 Nicholas Dalsgård and Anders Cederblad took the first steps toward what later became the Copenhagen based band Ladysmith. The bandmembers gathered in early 2009.
The Sextet delivers melodic alternative-rock, driven by a strong and relevant text universe. With the melody in focus, the band presents intense compositions, moving from quiet melancholy passages to grandiose rock surfaces. The source of inspiration include bands like The Beatles, Radiohead, Editors and Coldplay.
The band have played at quite a few major venues in Copenhagen and worked hard to develop their repertoire and build up a local fan base.
In March 2010 the band won an impressive first place in the music competition Playmakers, where about 40 bands from the Copenhagen underground participated.
"Ladysmith exhibited the evening's greatest boldness and foresight in their music and therefore delivered the freshest breath. The six musicians lead the listener into a promising sound universe - from comfortable instrumental pieces and catchy guitar themes to unexpected breaks and play with rhythms and dynamics. The band gave the music excitement and maintained the listeners attention"
