A local band will show the rest of Australia what Cairns is made of tonight in Sydney
Local heavy rockers Projekt Tile (pictured) are strutting their stuff on the national stage, representing Cairns’ live music scene at the 2010 Global Battle Of The Bands Australasian Finals in Newtown, Sydney.
The four-piece progressive rock and metal act have been one of the most active on the Far Northern live music scene over the past year, behind the Rumble In The Jungle series of shows at AJ Hackett, as well as playing regularly at venues across the region.
The winner will earn themselves an all expenses paid a trip overseas to represent Australia at the Global Battle Of The Bands Grand Final in Malaysia and the chance to win $100,000 in prizes.

Guitarist and songwriter from Projekt Tile, Bradd Kelly, says the band are pumped at their chance to represent Cairns in such a prestigious international competition.
“We’re not too worried about winning or not, but we’ll be putting on the best show we can,” he says.
“However if we were to win, the band would be getting a paid trip over to Kuala Lumpur for this year’s Global final. We are just happy to be playing a gig in Sydney really and to expand our ever-growing fan base.”
Local fans of Projekt Tile can look forward to their debut album, to be released in early 2011.
Wish them luck!
