The Global Battle Of the Bands (GBOB) is an international concept where bands from a number of countries battle to win the world final. GBOB was founded by the Norwegian Tore Lande in 2004 and is a continuation of the Norwegian Championship of Rock, which Tore ran for a number of years.
GBOB has one basic rule. All music must be original written by or for the band.
All forms of music are welcome, but the competition has been mostly characterized by pop and rock bands.
Who is the best guitar player in the world? Well, it's not Tore. But he had a lot of fun playing guitar in a band and organizing concerts with heroes like Gary Moore, Joe Pass, John McLaughlin, Hank Marvin, Terje Rypdal and Ritchie Blackmore.
